paying it forward

1/29/09
hey there,
just wanted to pop in a new entry on some of the stuff i've been thinking about and participating in lately.

Last week i started thinking about how i got to where i am with my snowboarding, friends, family, ramdom people i have looked up to over the years, People who showed support or helped me learn new things or influenced my style. Along with that i started thinking about how i wouldnt be who i am if i hadnt had that support or met the people who positively impacted my riding.
How cool is that our sport relys on stuff like that?? In most sports people are fighting to get ahead of one another and rarely share secrets to success with others, but in snowboarding its the total opposite. The thought that you can see someone huck something, get stoked on them hucking it and then approach them on tips and get a helpfull answer is awesome to say the least.

After letting all this run through my head myself and the good people at Mt.McSauba (the resort at which i am park manager) decided to start up a "park program" were kids can come out and learn new stuff in a safe environment and progress their skills.

We've had 3 sessions allready and i have to say that the feeling you get from working so closely with kids that are eager to learn is super rewarding!

Anywase,
just wanted to get that idea accross. Think about how you learned to do what it is that you do well and then pay it forward by giving back to the younger community, you may just help steer someones life in a good direction!

This is my Revolution custom for 2008-2009.

I wanted something simple that was going to remind me of all the fun stuff we did last season, so this is what we came up with.

Name: John Curtis a.k.a Johnny C
Age: 22 years old, b-day is 3/17/86
Years riding: a lot
Home resort: Mt.McSauba!!!!
Regular/goofy: you can call me goofy but i think that's technically stereotyping

I love to snowboard! Everyone has something in life that just makes them feel free, for me snowboarding is it. There is nothing like waking up to a beautiful blue bird day to see inches if not feet of new snow, heading out to a shred spot with your buds and ripping it all day long.
For me snowboarding is more than just the act of being on your board, its about a lifestyle/culture that thrives off mother nature and high fives after stomping tricks.
That is why i snowboard!
