The season is winding down here in Michigan with only 3 - 4 weeks left to ride at the resorts. (bummer). The up side is that the sun is out, the snow is soft and the shred community is out in full swing trying to wrap up their seasons!!!
I have been on the war path this week training to get ready for the u.s.a.s.a nationals in Copper Mountain Colorado in April, Learning new tricks and tightening up old ones! My riding has been going well with lots of progression, new axis spins, different grabs and some new change up combos on the rails and boxes.
Yesterday, Saturday March 14th i headed up to Boyne highlands to get some jump time in on a wonderful spring day and wound up breaking myself off pretty bad...... I was having a little session on the last table in the park tightening up my front side rodeos. I was doing good sticking fives, sevens then a nine. I came in to my second front rodeo nine attempt and hucked just a bit to hard and found myself spinning what felt like a double. I unfolded from my spin at the nine thinking everything would be ok when i noticed that i still had about 10ft to fall before i would hit the landing! In a state of panic i tried to continue my spin again (the wrong choice) to keep my balance but ended up throwing my body in to another rodeo and aiming my face dead at the landing. Needless to say , my face broke the fall for my body!!!! I stood up right away afraid that i might get trained on by some one and instantly noticed this massive amount of blood just raining out of my face.
I quickly rode over the the side of the pipe and was greeted by disgusted looks from my friends as they realized how bad i'd f#cked up my head.
Called up my wife and had here come get me knowing i'd fore sure been concused and definitly should not be driving anywhere. The E.R doctor ran me threw some cat scans to check for brain damage and facial breaks but everything turned out looking good besides my broken nose, black eyes, the large lump sticking out of my fore head and the mass amounts of lasarations and abbrasions all over my face. Also a broken toe, but i didnt find that a big ordeal untill after i'd found out my brain was ok!
Anywase,
what i am trying to say is that spring is fun and its a time to progress but you allways have to bring your A game while riding or you could end up looking like this!

I am hoping that i am healed in time for nationals!
