yo there,
things are going good out here in the mid-west!
I've been doing a ton of comps lately. In the last two weeks i have attended,
Boyne Mountain Rail Jam on 2/13/09 - 1st place. - This event was super fun, they had a good set up, 10ft up box 4ft gap to a 16ft down box and the down box also had street style lip options on both sides. It took me a little bit to warm up the the feature but i ended up getting the tricks i had set my mind on. On the up gap down i got, cab one tail back one switch tail, cab 270 270 the gap back one out, on the street style down box option i got, back lip, switch back lip, cab 270, reg 270 and southside 270.
Jam of Champions @ Boyne Highlands, an invite only event. riders competed through out the season to earn a spot in the finals, 2/20/09 - 2nd place. - This is an event that i'd been waiting all winter for. I'd been to 3 or 4 of the qualifying events and did well in all but the features were never anything that special. This event matched its name and truly was a Jam of Champions. Boyne highlands had there Challenger park closed to the public and let the top 20 kids from through out the winter take four runs each. The set up went like this, down bar, down flat down bar, down box, up down bar and a 20 ft step down. I showed up early and got my run dialed in, so by the time the comp started i was ready to throw down. the line that earned me 2nd place went like this, cab one back one off (down bar), 50-50 to back tail (down flat down), cab 270 (down box), 50-50 nollie melon grab gap to flat (up down) and backside cork 540 melon (step down jump).
Burton Demo Tour One Hit Wonder Slope Style on 2/21/09 - 1st place. - The Burton Demo Tour was in town showing their new line of product to the public and holding a one run slopestyle. The weather was super gnar at the top of the park with 40 mph winds and almost white out visibility. Our crew (myself, Conrad Klooster and Rusty Bolt) was ready to rip and didnt let the conditions deture us from illin it up. I took 1st place with some cab 270's, np 2 front board, 50-50 to back tail and a front 3 mute over the 30ft step down. Conrad also did well and earned himself 2nd place.
So yeah,
this years events have gone awesome and i still have a few more left.
Pictures and video coming soon.
later skaters,
